Service Dogs for Veterans

[Battle Buddies]

Team Foster partners with accredited service dog trainers to obtain, uniquely train, and partner service dogs with injured and disabled Veterans. Each service dog takes two years and more than $25,000 to train. * If you are seeking a service dog, contact us, and we will connect you with an accredited dog trainer in your area.

Veteran Support System

[Got Your Six]

Once a Veteran is part of our team, Team Foster continues to support the Veteran and their service dog. Whether it’s financial, veterinary care, or other needs, we “have ‘got your six.’” If you are a Veteran in need, contact us.

RAISING SERVICE DOG PUPPIES

[Trust the Pawcess]

Veterans sometimes wait 2+ years to get a service dog because there aren’t enough puppy raisers. Volunteer puppy raisers are a critical part of the process. Puppy raisers help provide home, care, and training for service pups for 15-18 months while they learn to become service dogs. In partnership with Susquehanna Service Dogs and Warrior Canine Connection, we created a Philadelphia-area puppy-raising program. Are you interested in becoming a puppy raiser?

Mission Based Trauma Recovery

Warrior Canine Connection utilizes a Mission Based Trauma Recovery model to help Warriors recovering from the stress of combat reconnect with their families, communities, and life.

By interacting with the dogs as they move from puppyhood to training to adult service dogs, Warrior Trainers benefit from a physiological and psychological animal-human connection. As a result of their efforts, Veterans with disabilities receive the finest in trained service dogs.

Raising the Bar in Service Dog Training

[Lead from the Front]

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides significant protection for people with service dogs. However, it does not ensure proper training standards for the dogs themselves. Team Foster ensures that our training partners are accredited by Assistance Dogs International, the gold standard for service dog training.
