Join Team Foster at the McMasters Open
Monday, June 16th at Bella Vista Golf Club
For years, The McMasters Open has been a key event benefiting Team Foster, and this year, it’s officially a Team Foster event! Team Foster’s mission is to raise money to provide accredited, life-saving service dogs to injured and disabled Veterans.
The McMasters Open promises to be a fun and unforgettable day on the course. Golfers can look forward to friendly competition, camaraderie, and exciting games at each hole. Returning this year and back by popular demand, we’ll have a special hole where you can meet and pet service dogs in training, a reminder of the incredible bond between Veterans and their companions.
The Legacy
Community demonstrates itself in various ways within various social units, and when the McCabe family lost both their grandparents within a few months of each other, they found themselves searching for a way to honor their family community, both in remembrance of their grandparents and in ways to create a gathering location since the family home was no longer available.
Over the years, the Masters Golf Tournament has become a family favorite. The McCabe family gathers to view it on the Saturday of the Masters each year. This event inspired the McCabe's to create a golf outing to honor this long-standing family tradition year after year.
In April 2014, The McMasters was officially formed. Like all quality family outings, it became something that family and friends looked forward to each year. By 2019, the outing had become such a success that the McCabe's established a family foundation to officially donate the proceeds to a like-minded community, Team Foster.
In 2023, the McMasters Foundation was proud to name a service dog in their grandfather’s honor, “WCC James II,” named after Corporal James McCabe. This honor would not have been possible without the generosity and support of the McMasters family, Team Foster, Warrior Canine Connection, and the McMasters Open golfing community.
Over the years, the event has gained in popularity, with donations over doubling some years. Rooted in community and a desire to stay connected, the McCabe family officially gifted the McMasters Event to Team Foster in 2025. As we look to the future, Team Foster is grateful to have the ongoing support of the McCabe family, both on and off the course.
To continue James and Theresa's legacy and increase its reach and fundraising goals, the McCabe family has turned over the reins of The McMasters Open to Team Foster. The McMasters Foundation board has joined Team Foster’s organization as a new committee dedicated to evolving this beloved annual outing and golf-based Team Foster programming, carrying James and Theresa well beyond 2025.
