Josh was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served as a Combat Engineer for 6 years. Transitioning to civilian life after military service can be challenging, and he struggled with the adjustment. Josh mistakenly believed that seeking support was a sign of weakness, so he resisted it. Depression became a constant companion, and flashbacks often left him in tears when he was alone. Thankfully, Team Foster was able to connect him with Susquehanna Service Dogs and Turbo. Josh no longer faces these challenges alone.
Turbo's love and support have been invaluable. Turbo helps Josh manage his insomnia and anxiety through deep pressure therapy, keeping me grounded and calm. His cheerful personality and constantly wagging tail are always a source of joy. Turbo's presence also helps redirect Josh's intrusive thoughts and provides a sense of security, which has allowed Josh to once again enjoy activities like dining out and traveling.
Because of Turbo, Josh has found the clarity and courage to seek professional therapy. As the bond deepens between Josh and Turbo, Josh feels more healed and closer to living the life he has always envisioned.
"My life has been profoundly changed, and I'm deeply grateful to Team Foster for giving me more than a dog—they gave me a future."
